Newcastle Ruby & Rails Workshop
10 months agoRecently I had the pleasure of attending Philip Poots 2 day workshop Ruby and Rails. The workshop was organised by Anthony Sterling and hosted at Post Office NE1 opposite Newcastle central station. Its pointless being overly tribalistic about the tools we use, so it was great to see so many PHP developers at the workshop. Perhaps some of them may choose rails for projects in the future and, provided the decision is based on a solid understanding of its relative strengths and weaknesses, thats fantastic.
The workshop was a solid introduction to Ruby and long enough to cover some of the fantastic tools that Rails has to offer. I’d recommend the workshop to any experienced developer (or designer, where are the boundaries?) who develops in another language. I’m a designer who has developed a few simple projects in Rails and I still found the workshop extremely useful. There are plans to run it again, so you should follow Philip Poots and Anthony Sterling on twitter and get yourself a ticket next time.
